Isabelle von Boch’s Five Top Tips For Setting A Perfect Spring Table

Isabelle von Boch TNIsabelle von Boch is an eighth-generation descendant of the internationally renowned Villeroy & Boch tableware family. An ambassador for the European brand, which this year celebrates 265 years, Isabelle inherited her family’s passion for dinnerware and is an expert at pairing colours and patterns that complement each other. Here, Isabelle offers tips on creating the perfect spring table setting, and adding colour to brighten up the table for a special occasion or everyday use.

For me, the seasons affect my choice of colours, and I usually change the accent colour in my home accordingly. This change can be very powerful and can impact your mood. At the first sign of spring, I usually fill my home with flowers and all things green: linens, candles, cushions, anything I can find. This new-ness adds a layer of fresh inspiration to everyone in our home and, quite frankly, a much needed hop to my step.

Villeroy Boch Lina

The Villeroy & Boch Lina range features bright colours and bold patterns that can be mixed and matched effortlessly. From RRP $9.95 per item.

Spring is the perfect time of year to introduce bright colours to the table. There is nothing off limits. Invest in one or two keys pieces, such as a serving dish or large vase, for an immediate overhaul.

Choose a colour scheme that works for you. Keep to a theme of two to four accent colours that complement each other, and carry these colours throughout your table with carefully chosen accessories. Colourful table decorations and napery will add a pop of colour and a sense of fun.

Table centrepieces are a simple and effective way to add colour. I tend to keep mine straightforward, often placing one or two flowers in a series of vases. Play around with the shape, size and colour of the vases and types of flowers you use.

Villeroy Boch Outdoor

Use good china, like the Switch 3 range, from RRP $17.95 per item, for special outdoor occasions.

My favourite colour and look changes regularly, and there is no hard and fast rule as to what works best. It’s important not to follow guidelines and instead mix and match based on personal taste and preference – your own sense of style will shine through.

Another way to introduce a splash of colour is with coloured glass and crystal, such as vases, stemware and serving pieces.
